Stewart, Fleener also shine for Stanford

MIAMI GARDENS — Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck was the deserving most valuable player in the Discover Orange Bowl after throwing four touchdown passes in a 40-12 victory over Virginia Tech. But tailback Jeremy Stewart and tight end Coby Fleener could have made a case for the honor after delivering record-setting performances for a Cardinal offense that produced 534 yards of total offense.

Stewart, a senior whose season was limited to seven games and 13 carries by injury, had a memorable final game. He ran five times for 99 yards and kick-started the Cardinal attack in the first half with a 60-yard scoring run. He had gained a total of 38 yards coming into the game."I saw the daylight and my eyes got big," Stewart said of his 60-yard scoring burst off left tackle. "The only thing I was thinking was to get to the end zone as fast as you can."
